The joys of travelling in winter conditions were experienced by Queen’s Park after their game against Elgin City on Tuesday night. The travelling party had to sleep on the bus after the police stopped their coach from travelling past Dalwhinnie in Invernessshire due to adverse weather conditions. It was a good job that the Spiders had won or else tempers could well have frayed among head coach Gardner Speirs, his backroom staff, players and Committee Members as they tried to sleep on the team coach. Speirs said, “We left Elgin at 10.00pm but we were stopped at midnight and told the A9 was closed and we could go no further. We stayed there for the next 8 hours until we could move again and everyone just tried their best to have a sleep on the bus. Thankfully spirits were good as we had won and we took the players into a hotel for breakfast at Newtonmore as soon as we got going again.” |
