Strikers can be arrogant and demanding and it looks like James McFadden thinks he deserves better than what Birmingham can deliver in the Championship.

There continues to be interest in the services which can be delivered by Scotland striker James McFadden. This despite he and fellow Scotland striker being relegated along with their Birmingham team mates to the Championship. With the drop comes a feeling of missing out on the big stage and McFadden for one is on the look out for a new club in the spotlight. Celtic already have had a bid for the unsettled McFadden turned down but, according to his agent, the player is keen to leave Birmingham.

McFadden moved to Birmingham from Everton in January this year on a three-and-a-half-year contract for £5million but his efforts were not enough to halt Alex McLeish's side slide out of the Premier League. Agent Willie McKay said: "
James has told me that he wants to leave. He is happy when Alex McLeish gave him an opportunity to play first-team football every week but it's a short career and he wants to play at the highest level." McFadden scored four goals in his 12 games for the Blues. Ex-Scotland manager McLeish insists McFadden is not available for transfer and will still be with Birmingham next season. He said: "We're not in the business of selling our best players. We don't need to. James is absolutely vital to our plans."
