The chance to reach the fourth round of the Scottish Cup is the prize on offer to Arbroath and East Fife when they meet at Gayfield.
East Fife manager Dave Baikie had some good news ahead of today's Scottish Cup game with Arbroath. The Fifers are unscathed from last Saturday's game at Ayr, but the injury list remains extensive as they bid to bounce back to winning ways. Jon Smart and Paul Nugent escaped Monday's reserve team outing at Gayfield unscathed and both could be available today. However, long-term absentee Goran Stanic is only due to resume light training next week and will not be fit, while Steven Tweed is still out.
Arbroath manager John McGlashan will be going all out to reach the fourth round. The Fifers won the last meeting between the two sides but the Gayfield manager does not believe that will have too much of a bearing on the outcome of this game. The Red Lichties have a full squad to choose from and McGlashan is upbeat. He said: "This is a totally different game from the last time, different players, different tactics and formation. So we go there to win the cup tie and not worry about what happened before." | Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba.net)
