Sometime the grass is not always greener at another club if you want to develop in first team football.

Saturday will see Mark Reynolds make his 100th appearance for Motherwell which is an indication that he is sure he made the right choice regarding where he should learn his trade. The Scotland Under-21 defender will celebrate his century in the Lanarkshire derby against Hamilton at Fir Park. Rangers offer of £1m for Reynolds was rebuffed in the summer and he is happy to keep developing at his hometown club. He said: "
Playing week-in, week-out is brilliant for my development. You see a lot of guys aged 19, 20, 21 all playing periodically, sitting on the bench coming on here and there. I think I am right when I say that I was the only person to have played every minute of every game in the SPL last year too, so that is another thing that is pleasing for me. I just want to play football and I am getting that at Motherwell. I am learning my trade, playing regularly for a good side, so I am in no rush to go anywhere. Even this season, after 100 senior games, I learn something new just about every match. I will continue to do my best for the team until I am sold or told to get out."

Like the majority of players, Reynolds has ambitions to make the full national squad and is but a short step away playing in the under-21s. He has already had experience of representing his country with appearances at UEFA's Under-19 Championship and the Under-20 World Cup and is hopeful that one day he will get the call to the A Squad. However, for the moment his is concentrating on his club football and he is focused on reaching the UEFA Cup again. A win on Saturday could see the Steelmen into the top six of the SPL and heading in the right direction for a European place. Reynolds said: "
I've been lucky enough to play in a youth World Cup and an under-19s championship for Scotland already. It is those sorts of things that help your development, make you more rounded as a player and as an individual, and I obviously want more. I can only try and keep playing as well as I can for Motherwell and if anything comes off in terms of the full squad then great. I've had the experience of playing in Europe and I think I can safely speak for the rest of the boys when I say that I want to taste that again."
