Hamilton Accies are off the bottom of the SPL again thanks to the Paixao twins

heartsHamilton manager Billy Reid’s side is off the bottom of the SPL following a thrilling 2-0 win over Dundee United last night. Portuguese twins Marco and Flavio Paixao made the difference as they both managed to get on the scoresheet to allow Accies to pick up their first away win over United since 1989. Reid felt his side, who ended a nine-game winless run last night, were deserving winners over a United team that created little in the final third. He said: "I thought we started well and controlled the first 45 minutes. We passed the ball really well, created our chances and scored two good goals. I thought we were worthy of that at half-time. We knew United would come out fighting in the second half but I thought we contained that fairly well. I think over the 90 minutes the best team won."

The manager laid into his players after the game, describing it as their worst performance of the season. He said: "For the second home match in a row we have given a team a two-goal head-start. It was all credit to Hamilton as they got on top of us right away. This team has won five and drawn two of their last seven games before this so it is difficult to criticise the players but I couldn't give any of them pass marks."
