Rangers Not Comfy Just Yet

An eight point lead may sound OK but Rangers want to extend that.

Rangers Andrew Little is determined, like his teammates, to extend the eight-point lead they hold over city rivals Celtic. The gap was cut to eight points when Celtic beat Hearts while Rangers drew with Motherwell in midweek. The move closer was a rare glimmer of light for Celtic in a disappointing couple of months that has seen them gradually slip away from Rangers. However, Rangers manager Walter Smith insisted there is no room for complacency at Ibrox. Little believes they have to underline their determination to maintain their lead when Hibs come to call on Sunday.
The striker said: "The cushion is nice but we don't want to sit on that. The manager keeps stressing to us that we need to keep pushing on and not just be happy to have that cushion. We want to extend the lead, no matter what other teams do, it's all down to us. If we can get the form we had in December we can push on. We need to find a run that we found at the end of last season, we went something like 11 games unbeaten with 10 wins and a draw. That's the kind of form we need to show because there are other teams, Hibs and Celtic included, who are capable of doing that as well."
