You just can't trust your parents not to embarass you in front of your friends even when you are 3,000 miles away from home.

Damian Casalinuovo had a very special guest in Aberdeen watching him score for Dundee United against Aberdeen in the 2-0 win. The Argentinian striker's dad, Jose Luis, had flown over from Buenos Aires and travelled north by train on his own. Casalinuovo snr does not speak English but everybody knew what he was feeling when he started celebrating wildly when his son scored the opening goal. A number of United fans caught on to the fact of who he was and with a combination of smiles and gestures, Casalinuovo snr was invited to head back to Dundee on a supporters' bus. That was not the end of the evening, as the Harlequins United supporters' club threw an impromptu party in his honour in a local bar - before bestowing honorary membership on the South American. Casalinuovo, who will be on from the start of tonight Co-operative Insurance Cup quarter-final at St Johnstone, wanted to thank the fans involved.

He said: "
They went to a bar in Dundee and had a party. I had to go and pick him up when we got back from the game. He wasn't drunk but plenty of the supporters were. He picked up some great memories and he swapped phone numbers and e-mail with a lot of the fans. They said he could be a member of their supporters' club every time he comes over! He will be back at Christmas for a few weeks so he's looking forward to that already. It made me feel very good that the fans did that for my father and I would like to thank them for it."
