Gus McPherson must be doing something right as he has had his contract extended by Queen of the South. The former St Mirren manager has been in charge for the last seven months when he took over at Palmerston Park when the club parted company with Kenny Brannigan and he signed a one year deal at the time.

After a sluggish start McPherson guided his side to a recent seven game unbeaten run in the League and the Scottish Cup. Aberdeen eventually ended their interest in the knock-out competition and a 3-0 defeat from Falkirk combined with wins for Ayr United and Raith Rovers saw the Doonhamers slip into bottom spot, however the Dumfries Club’s Board have seen enough to want McPherson to extend his time as manager.
