Hearts are paying the price for the red and yellow cards dished out last season.

Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov better dig deep as his club could have to find £60,000 to pay the fine imposed by the SFA for their indiscipline. The ruling body's Disciplinary Committee has imposed a £50,000 fine hdue to the club's poor record last season, with a crime count including 11 red cards. A further £10,000 fine has been suspended until January pending good behaviour.

This is the fifth successive season Hearts have been punished by the SFA after being forced to pay £40,000 when they experienced having nine players sent off in the 2007/08 campaign. The latest sanction comes in the wake of a red card for new captain Michael Stewart, whose dismissal in Monday's defeat against Dundee United rules him out of this weekend's clash with Rangers. Vice-captain Marius Zaliukas - who was sent off on four occasions last season - is currently serving a four-game ban.
