Not Good Enough Again

C:WindowsTempphpCA62.tmpMotherwell manager Ian Baraclough was not in the best of moods following his sides defeat against St Johnstone in Perth on Saturday. A 2-1 reverse despite being down to ten men was not on the cards when Motherwell went one up in the first half. This was the second time in seven days that the Steelmen have let a lead slip. The visitors' were on top for the first fifty minutes and were ahead through Louis Moult’s first goal for the Fir Park side. But Baraclough was desperately disappointed in the closing half hour, with Steven McLean scoring twice to win the game for Saints before Jake Taylor was ordered off for a second bookable offence.

A frustrated Baraclough said: "We were totally in control in the first half and everything we did right we stopped doing in the second. We stopped picking up second balls, we stopped closing down; we thought the game was won. It was clear St Johnstone would come back, through things at us and up their work rate and we had to match it, but didn’t. We also didn’t defend either goal anything like good enough, it was far too simple, and that’s something we need to work better on. Yes, it has been a difficult start for us but we have got to be showing more and this week coming up will be a chance to put things right."
