Talented players will always attract interest and Dundee United are putting up a protective shield around Morgaro Gomis.

Dundee United manager Craig Levein is not in the mood to deal with speculation over his players. Ipswich Town manager Roy Keane has been told to forget about singing Tannadice midfielder Morgaro Gomis for £800,000. While the club have not been approached officially, the mention of interest from Ipswich way comes with a suggested value of of less that a million. However, Levein insists he has yet to receive any bids for the Frenchman and hinted he would want something nearer the £1.8million Hamilton received from Wigan for James McCarthy.

Levein said: "
First of all, there has to be a bid from someone before we can respond to it. There hasn't, so we can't, but one thing I'm happy to tell you is that if Hamilton can sell their best player for £1.8million, there is no way we would consider selling Gomis for under half that. You are talking about a player who, right at this moment, I consider to be our best midfielder in terms of consistency and level of performance. He's under contract, we don't want to sell him and we don't have to sell, so we don't need to consider anything at this type of figure."
