Rangers number one keeper, Wes Foderingham has agreed to extend his deal with the club by signing a one-year extension.  The new deal will keep him at Ibrox until May 2020 but admits he could have left Rangers this summer but wanted to stay to achieve his initial aims.  Foderingham has made 101 appearances since he signed for the Ibrox club in June 2015; playing every single league game bar one, both in the Championship and Premiership, since his arrival from Swindon Town.

Foderingham said: "
I am very happy. Since I have joined the club I have remained the number one and I have had great times at the football club. I was keen to extend my stay and it made sense for both parties. I am just happy playing my football here, I had two years left on my deal and the club approached me and said they wanted to extend it. Of course I had no reservations about that and I am happy to sign.  If I am being totally honest I had options to leave this summer but in my mind I always wanted to stay at this football club, the club said they wanted to keep me here and I am pleased they did. I joined this football club to play in Europe, to be on the big stage and I want to be there when the club returns.< All the boys here want to be playing in Europe and at the highest level possible – I think I can achieve that at Rangers. I have been here one of the longest now and I try to use my voice in the dressing room and be a leader as well. I want to improve on last year; last season was a bit of a disappointment as was being knocked out of Europe at such an early stage as well. Hopefully we can go one better in the league, win a cup and do better in Europe next season. I do feel like Glasgow is home now, I have settled in very well, I have bought a place up here and my girlfriend has recently moved up here as well. I am nice and settled and have no reason to leave."

Foderingham says that the goalkeeping group of coach Jose Belman, Jak Alnwick and Liam Kelly was another big reason to stay in Glasgow.  It is a very different setup from the one which Foderingham signed into when Jim Stewart was at the helm and Cammy Bell was number two.  He continued: "
Jose is a calming presence, no matter the occasion he is very calm and he tries to prepare me for games as best he can. As a whole goalkeeping unit we work really well together."
