Things got heated on the touchline at Tynecastle last night as the managers exchanged views.
There appears to be some bad blood between the respective managers of Hearts and Motherwell after last night's 2-1 win for the Edinburgh side. Motherwell manager Mark McGhee was furious after he accused Hearts counterpart Csaba Laszlo of a four letter response to a question after a challenge on the home side's Andrew Driver. Maros Klimpl was cautioned for a challenge on Andrew Driver which led to the touchline spat. McGhee said: "I'm quite upset about it (the exchange) and quite disappointed. I asked him what the problem was and he told me to 'eff off'. There was a foul, but it was only a foul. That happens all the time. The reaction from their bench was as if there was an assassination." McGhee did not have the best on nights as his side's nine-game unbeaten league run was ended by an injury-time winner from Hearts' Spanish midfielder Ruben Palazuelos after Stephen Hughes had cancelled out the opening goal from Driver. Hearts remain firmly on course for third place in the table after restoring their five-point advantage over Dundee United, while the Fir Park side dropped out of the top six thanks to goal difference. McGhee said: "I'm 100% satisfied with the performance. I think we will eventually be back in the top six. We won't finish third but we can still finish fourth. They did everything I asked of them, did everything right apart from winning the game."
Although the managers shook hands at the end of the game Hearts manager Laszlo offered his view to McGhee's comments. He said: "If he said this, he must tell what he told before. We must respect each other and after I apologised also. But he didn't do it. We can talk also (about) what he told me after 1-1. I think sometimes this can be a war between normal people. I apologised after directly but he didn't do it. If I told you (what he said), we must go to the law." Laszlo also wished Fir Park captain Stephen Craigan well after he was stretchered off after an accidental head knock from Christian Nade. Laszlo said: "I hope the captain from Motherwell recovers very quickly. I think it was an accident. It was not a fault. I wish him all the best and hope he is very quickly back" | Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)
