Nine Withdrawals From National Side

3 March 2010 126Craig Levein will have to work fast if he is to replenish his squad ahead of tomorrow night's game against the Faroe Islands. The national manager has lost nine players from his squad fro the game at Pittodrie on Tuesday. Levein had already left several regulars out of his original squad, including Rangers' Allan McGregor, Kenny Miller and Lee McCulloch.

However, with nine players out, the SFA announced that on Sunday night that Celtic captain Shaun Maloney, Wigan defender Steven Caldwell, Dundee United defender Garry Kenneth, Blackpool full-back Stephen Crainey, Kilmarnock skipper Craig Bryson and Middlesbrough midfielder Barry Robson have been drafted into the squad

The nine players lost to Levein are Christophe Berra (knee), Chris Burke (groin), Gary Caldwell (thigh), Graham Dorrans (foot), Matt Gilks (knee), Alan Hutton (groin), James Morrison (knee), Steven Naismith (shoulder) and Steven Whittaker (knee). There may be more players added to the squad as the day goes on.
