C:WindowsTempphp872E.tmpQueen of the South have bolstered their squad up to the end of the season with loans agreed for Dom Thomas (Motherwell) and Jo Thomson (Celtic). They were involved in training yesterday and started the getting to know you phase with the Doonhamers. Manager Gary Naysmith thought that both players looked good and believes both will enhance the squad. He said: "Both are versatile players and can play anywhere within the midfield so it gives me more flexibility and will allow us to change formation when we need to. Joe is a young player who I tried to get when I was at East Fife but Celtic wanted him to play at a higher level so he made the move to Dumbarton where he has played all but two games for them in the Championship.  Dumbarton are sorry to lose him, but both he and Celtic, where he is well thought of, felt that it would be better for him to play for a full time club. He is good on the ball, is very energetic, likes to get between boxes and can really spot a pass.  He likes to get involved with set pieces".

Thomas can operate on either wing but is predominantly left sided and has made nearly 40 first team appearances for Motherwell. Naysmith said:  "
He is a creative player who can play on either side or from in behind the strikers, he likes to turn and go so I'm sure he will excite the fans. He's at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing every week.  We are lucky to have him as six or seven other clubs would've liked him to join them, but I have to thank Motherwell and in particular James McFadden for letting him join Queens. Faddy and I were at Everton together and have stayed good friends; he believes that being with me at Queens is the right place for Dom so I hope he is correct".

Naysmith remains hopeful that the new faces will be augmented by at least another colleague before the Dunfries side meet St Mirren on Saturday.  Naysmith went on: "
These two are the first of a few, but as I said at the weekend bringing new players in means that the books have to be balanced which means there may be players leaving.  It's been busy already and I'm expecting it to be that way for the whole of January".
