Motherwell have suggested they did not get respect in France but the men from Nancy have no idea what they are talking about.

Nancy manager Pablo Correa is at a loss as to why Mark McGhee has accused him of treating Motherwell with contempt. The Uruguayan was not about to get drawn into a war of words after arriving in Scotland ahead of tonight's second leg of their UEFA Cup first-round tie. McGhee used his Sunday newspaper column to hit out at the French club and their manager for showing disrespect before, during and after Nancy's 1-0 home win. He pledged Motherwell would respect Nancy - then try to "kick their teeth in" during tomorrow's second leg at Fir Park. Correa said: "I have nothing to say about anything. I don't feel there was any problem at the time. After the match we will talk about it in a calm fashion. I know the mental state of my players is good and I have nothing more to add."

McGhee went on about Correa letting out "wails of anguish" every time a Motherwell player challenged an opponent and complained to the referee about minor tackles. The Motherwell manager also used his pre-match press conference to claim that Nancy felt they only had to turn up to progress to the group stages. But again, a rather bemused Correa denied everytnhing. He said: "
If that's the impression they have, it's a false impression. Two years ago we lost 1-0 at Schalke and we went through 3-1 on aggregate. It's difficult to get into the group stages. But if we weren't confident we wouldn't have come here. Our aim is to progress. I think we have to score a goal - it's important to score. One was not enough for Schalke so we would obviously like to score more, but it might be enough." Nancy skipper Gennaro Bracigliano also expressed surprise at McGhee's comments. The goalkeeper said: "I wasn't aware of any bad feeling. After the first match, I saw Motherwell players with Nancy strips on and Nancy players with Motherwell strips on. All the players are interested in is playing the match. We go to work on the pitch, not off it. It doesn't affect us."
