Changes to the squad may make life different form the Steelmen but Darren Randolph can see another top-six finish

Motherwell goalkeeper Darren Randolph is sure his side can reach the heights of last season's exploits despite a number of key personnel leaving the club. The Lanarkshire club have bid farewell to top goalscorer John Sutton along with Maurice Ross, Steve Jones, Francis Jeffers, Esteban Casagolda and Gavin Gunning since the Scottish Cup final defeat by Celtic at the end of the 2010-11 season. Manager Stuart McCall quickly replaced Sutton with Michael Higdon and last week brought former Sheffield United and Rotherham midfielder Nicky Law to Fir Park. McCall is also hoping to welcome back Gunning on another loan deal from Blackburn and believes home-grown youngsters can provide competition for places. Randolph insists the first team is strong enough to aim for a repeat of last season's top-six finish.

The Irishman said:  "Some people are already saying they think it will be difficult for us to repeat the success of last year, but I am not so sure. We have retained pretty much all of the starting XI and added quality in Michael Higdon and Nicky Law.And although we did do well last campaign, a few of the boys still talk about certain games during the season where we should've picked up more so that shows a real hunger and desire to finish higher than sixth.Although we have lost a few players, we have added quality as I've said and in terms of the actual starting XI, I think we have more competition for places rather than less.I know the gaffer has said he will add one more then look at loans too so there are plenty of reasons to be positive."
