Neil Lennon's assistant Johan Mjallby travelled to Switzerland in confident mood ahead of the second leg of their Europa League play-off tie with Sion. The first leg at Parkhead ended in a goalless draw which means Celtic must score in Sion to progress to the Europa League group stages. Mjallby said: "For us it's very important to try to win this game and to go through. We desperately want it. We think it's important for the club and the players to be involved in Europe. It's half-time, it's 0-0. We kept a clean sheet, we knew that we should've done better in the final third in the home game and we're disappointed we didn't win that game because we think we created enough to at least get a win. It's delicate, but we're going to go there and try to win the game - that's all that matters.''
Celtic's preparations for the second leg did not go well as they lost 1-0 to St Johnstone on Sunday. Mjallby believes the opportunities to score have been present and has called for the players to be more ruthless. He went on: "We've been disappointed with play in the final third for the last two games - it's quite unusual for a Celtic team to not score in two home games. But I would be more worried if we didn't create chances. I think we created enough chances to win both games. Against Sion we need to be more clinical.''
A full squad of players travelled to Switzerland, with defender Kelvin Wilson (leg), Beram Kayal (ankle) and Gary Hooper (ankle) all due to be assessed on arrival. Mjallby said: "We have to wait and see who's fit and who's not fit. They're all travelling anyway and that's good. Hopefully we'll know more after Wednesday night's training and Thursday. Right now they are in the same phase, especially Beram and Gary, who has been out a wee bit longer than Kelvin. Now we are hopeful, but we have to wait and see.''
