Kenny Miller is confident he is overcoming the shin splints problem that have hampered his pre-season preparations. The Rangers striker was not able to train for the first two days of the club's preparations in Australia after two weeks of pain came to a head. However, some light is at the end of the tunnel as he managed to overcome the pain to score in the 2-1 win over Blackburn on Sunday and should be able to be considered for selection for the game against Sydney on Wednesday.

Miller said: "For a couple of weeks, I've found the shin splints problem pretty frustrating. I've not been able to train as much as I'd have liked and the pain has been pretty unbearable at times. I've found myself lying in bed at night and it's been absolutely throbbing. It has been waking me up and all sorts. It hasn't been great but I took a few days when we got here in the hope that would allow it to settle down. That seems to have worked and during the game with Blackburn on Sunday, I felt pretty good."
