A U2 concert has forced the postponement of Saturday's Scottish Third Division game between Queen's Park and Albion Rovers.

The match referee decided on Friday afternoon that the pitch was unplayable following the Irish rock band's concert at Hampden Park on Tuesday evening.

Queen's Park say that a programme of works had been agreed with Hampden Park Limited's head groundsman. But the match was postponed at lunch time before the works were completed.

It's a rather unfortunate call off for the Coatbridge-based visitors as they find themselves in the unusal position of leading the league after a good start to the season that also saw an away win at Ayr Utd in the Alba Challenge Cup. Forward momentum for the Cliftonhill side is curtailed for the moment.

The inevitable appropriate songs came to mind from U2

(Don't) Get On Your Boots

It's A Beautiful Day (so take the wife shopping 'cos there is no game at Hampden)

Stuck In a Moment You Can't Get Out Of

New Year's Day (or shortly after for the replay?)

Vertigo (but not in Division 3)

With Or Without You (the game is still off)
