C:WindowsTempphpF4E5.tmpAberdeen were not pleased when they heard that the Betfred Cup Semi-Final against Morton at Hampden Park would be kicking off at 12:15 on Saturday 22nd October. The Dons fans do travel in numbers and the club were perturbed that such an early start would impact on the numbers backing them in Glasgow. Step forward ScotRail which confirmed it will run a 'football special' service for Aberdeen fans. The special sets off at 08:10 to get fans to Glasgow in time for the kick off Tickets - valid for this service only - are not cheap at £43/return for adults and £16/return for children but they do cover all ScotRail travel to Hampden.

Ongoing rail improvements mean a reduced timetable - of normal scheduled services and diverted journeys through the Central Belt from 22 October. For the return journey, the train leaves Glasgow Queen St at 15.24, arriving back to Aberdeen at 18.22. Should there be extra time/penalties which delay the end of the game, the train will leave at 16.23, arriving Aberdeen at 19.23.

Tickets for this special service can be bought in Aberdeen Station Travel Shop from 1pm today and between 10:00-21:00 weekdays on a first come first served basis. Weekend opening hours are 10:00-17:00. It makes sense for anybody interested to plan ahead and book their tickets for travel as all timetabled as Aberdeen services will be busy and they may be unable to board if seats are booked. Two direct, scheduled services leave Aberdeen earlier, at 05:26 and 06:33 but are already likely to be fully loaded with customers not travelling to the game. A third scheduled service - involving a change at Haymarket, leaves Aberdeen at 06:46.

Jacqueline Taggart, ScotRail Alliance Customer Experience Director said: "The special trains means a guaranteed seat for Dons' fans. Our advice would be to travel on these services if possible. This train means Aberdeen football fans can travel to support their team and have a great day out. I ask fans to book early to avoid disappointment as we expect demand for tickets on the 'Dons Express' to be high."

Supporters should contact ScotRail directly to book this service or for more information.
