Kilmarnock are not a one man team and Jim Jeffries wants his players to help get the goals and stop relying on Kevin Kyle to do the business

kilmarnock jpegKilmarnock have scored only one goal in four consecutive defeats which may be why manager Jim Jefferies is looking to his players to lend a hand to Kevin Kyle and scoring some goals. Kyle has scored two in each of the two SPL games Killie have won this season while his team-mates have managed just five goals in 13 SPL games. The Scotland striker's efforts kept Killie in the top flight last season when he hit seven goals in four games in the run-in. And, although he has netted six goals in all competitions this season, Killie are struggling again with just one point separating them and bottom club Falkirk ahead of the trip to Perth to play St Johnstone tomorrow (Saturday).

Jefferies said: "There is nothing wrong with the way we're playing. I would be more worried if we weren't creating chances but we are, we maybe even need to create a few more. The trouble is that we need to put the ball in the net. Kevin Kyle said this week that he's had more chances in the last few games than he had last season. The difference is he was putting the ball in the net every chance he got last season. This year it has not happened, but we shouldn't be relying on Kevin Kyle all the time, there are others who have had better chances than Kevin and they have not been sticking the ball in the net. That's something we have got to rectify."

Former Celtic striker Mark Burchill may help solve Kilmarnock's goalscoring problems as he pushes his first start for the club. Burchill has made two appearances from the bench after recovering from the Achilles injury he suffered in pre-season following his switch from Rotherham. Jefferies said: "We've not been scoring goals so the other strikers have got to be in the frame because we have been playing well enough and creating chances, and Mark has a track record of putting the ball in the net. Injury has held him back but he got a wee spell last week and he is there if we need to call on him."
