Motherwell midfielder Keith Lasley has survived the reign of Jim Gannon and is pleased to have signed a new two-year contract with the Fir Park club. Lasley began his professional career with Motherwell back in 1999 and is in his second spell with club. Things looked bleak for his Motherwell days when Gannon was in charge as he was frozen out of the manager’s plans. However, things have turned around since Craig Brown and Archie Knox took over the management side of things. Lasley, who returned to the club in 2006 after spending two years at Plymouth, is the second player to commit his future to the Steelmen after Steven Hammell signed a new deal two weeks ago. There are also reports captain Stephen Craigan is poised to sign a new contract.

Lasley said: "I am thrilled to get everything sorted out. I have never hidden my desire to play for this club; I love it here. Sure, things were hard for the first six months of this season but that has been the only time during my 10 years at this club where I haven't enjoyed coming to work each and every day. Hopefully, I'll be able to see out the rest of my professional career here. There are a few other boys who are out of contract and hopefully others will follow Stevie Hammell and I and we can keep the core of the squad together."
