Alloa Athletics Scott Walker thinks not.

Mark Gilhaney scored a late winner for Alloa against Cowdenbeath in midweek to secure a trip to St.Mirren in the fourth round of the competition. Whilst Alloa are enjoying their cup run and are reasonably placed in the league, defender Scott Walker has his views on Junior clubs playing in the competition. On 2 December Alloa drew 2-2 with Arbroath after leading 2-0 at one stage. Junior club Irvine Meadow had already disposed of the 'Red Lichties' in the Scottish Cup 1‑0. A great result for the West Region Super League champions which will be rewarded with a trip to Easter Road to play SPL high flyers Hibernian.
Scott has strong views against junior clubs entering the tournament. He said: "Junior side Irvine Meadow have been making the headlines as their defeat of Arbroath in the Scottish Cup has set up a money spinning tie against Hibernian at Easter Road. Probably a bigger ‘money spinner’ than a trip to Paisley". He went on to say: "To be honest, I wouldn’t have Junior teams playing in the Scottish Cup – if they are prepared to enjoy the fruits of involvement in our national knock-out competition then they should have to go the ‘full hog’ and join the senior game. Irvine Meadow will get a lot of cash which would be better used by senior clubs as many of the junior clubs are relatively rich". He calls it ‘double standards’ saying: "They know they couldn’t perform week in week out and would struggle in the SFL". He goes on to say that the junior clubs are being allowed to 'pick and choose' when they are involved in the senior game and he said: "I feel a pyramid system should be adopted with a play off system seeing the two top teams from the Super League taking on the bottom clubs from division 3. That’s the way forward". I hope he means the top two clubs from the Super Leagues as there is also an East Region Super League.
Finally he said: "A lot of junior clubs have a big fan base so it would help improve attendances in the SFL if they joined up. If they want to truly make their clubs part of the community they should have a proper youth set up in place – there has to be more commitment from junior sides- to meet the requirements of the senior game."
Funny, I don’t hear any complaints from Arbroath.
