dundee united jpegDundee United midfielder Danny Swanson will return Peter Houston's squad at home to Hibs as they hope to end a run of three straight defeats. Swanson has made one four-minute appearance this season due to sciatica in his back, but he could come off the bench at Tannadice. Craig Conway, Scott Severin, Darren Dods, and Mihael Kovacevic are all struggling to be fit as United seek to bounce back from defeat to Celtic and two successive losses to Motherwell. Strikers David Goodwillie, with five, including in the last four SPL games, and Jon Daly have contributed eight of United's 10 top-flight goals this season. Morgaro Gomis scored against Hearts in August, while an own goal was scored in the Aberdeen game the following month. Houston hopes to arrest the losing streak by encouraging his side to shoot. He said: "We need to score more goals from all areas of the park. We've been working on finishing this week and a bit more shooting, more crossing - hopefully it will pay off. We can't just rely on Goodwillie and Daly to score all our goals. I'm looking for when we get set plays, centre backs to chip in, I'm looking for midfield players from the edge of the box to shoot more, I'm looking for midfield players to get into the box. If you look at it Morgaro came on in the last 10 minutes against Hearts and scored a cracker from 30 yards. Scottie Robertson, Davie Robertson, Prince (Buaben) and Morgaro are all capable of scoring from that distance, so I feel they should do more shooting.''

hibsHibs Colin Nish is not expected to recover from his ankle injury in time to be named in Colin Calderwood's side. The striker suffered the injury when he scored during last Saturday's 4-2 loss at Aberdeen. David Wotherspoon is rated 50-50 for the game at Tannadice, with Graham Stack (back), Darryl Duffy (metatarsal) and Merouane Zemmama (knee) still out. Calderwood said: "If you're above Dundee United, you'll definitely be in the top six come the end of the season.''
