Hibs Go For Towell Again

Richie Towell IIHibs have returned to Celtic and have re-signed right-back Richie Towell on loan until the end of the season. He played for Hibs last season, making 16 appearances, after moving to Easter Road in January for his first loan spell. The return of the Irishman, who can also play in midfield, gives Hibs manager Colin Calderwood a much-needed option in the right-back area. With Michael Hart still to play this season after being hit by a groin injury, midfielder Victor Palsson has been deputising in the position.

Towell said: "I'm really happy to be heading back to Hibernian - I enjoyed every minute of my time at the club last season. I learned a huge amount during my last loan spell with Hibernian from playing regular first-team football - it really helped me to develop as a player. As soon as I was made aware of the fact there may be the possibility of going back to Easter Road I jumped at it. Everyone at the club made me feel at home last time and I felt like a valued member of the team. I'm aiming to repay the manager's faith in me by making a big impact in the side and helping the team in the SPL. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I have nothing but affection and admiration for the club and to wear the jersey again will be a real honour for me. I can't wait to get back playing again for Hibs."

Towell is very likely to come be considered for selection for Sunday's derby against Hearts at Tynecastle. Calderwood said: "Richie is a talented young player and we were saddened to see him leave the football club at the end of last season. So, to be able to bring him back is a real boost for Hibernian. He knows what we're all about, we know him and I'm sure he will hit the ground running." Let's hope he does not make a similar mistake that gave away a goal as when he played his first game for Hibs.
