Marian Kello has been patient to get his gloves dirty for the first team and he was not found ring rusty when he got his chance.
Marian Kello got a chance to show what he can do to Hearts manager Casba laszlo on Saturday when regular number one Janos Balogh and back-up Jamie MacDonald were both out due to injuries. He was ready and able to make a crucial penalty save in Saturday's goalless draw with Dundee United and hope his performance will help win him an extended run in the Edinburgh side. He also appeared to be in the wars after picking a bruised face when he was caught by Jon Daly as he dived on a loose ball after initially blocking Scott Roberston's low shot. Referring to the bruise beside his eye, Kello said: "In the first half the ball spilled out of my hands and after the player came in and caught me, that was my punishment." Kello said: "I tried to put a good performance in for the team and what happens next week is up to the gaffer. I try to fight for my position and hopefully I can stay in goal. It has been frustrating looking on from the sidelines, every player wants to play and I am no different. I felt good on the pitch but I didn't think I was that busy." The last time Kello faced Dundee United was the first game of the season and once again he had to face a penalty from Cadamarteri. He said: "In the first game of the season the same player scored a penalty against us, he scored at my right shoulder and on this case I went to the other side and I hoped to confuse him." United manager Craig Levein insists referee Euan Norris handled the occasion well with the referee's decision making under intense scrutiny. Norris was the fourth official in Hearts' stormy encounter at Hamilton that ended with Suso Santana and Ian Black being sent-off following a post-game bust-up in the tunnel. Levein added: "I think he got the major decisions right, the penalty was a penalty. I thought the lad had a good game and that will do him the world of good with all the stuff that is going on. He has refereed our games before and done okay." |
