Hearts Looking For A Win On The Road

Eggert JonssonBeating Celtic before the International break will count for very little if Hearts do not pick up another three points today. The opposition today is Dunfermline but Eggert Jonsson wants the result to be the same or better than the 2-0 win at Tynecastle. The location may play a part as Hearts have won five in Gorgie this season but have not won any of their last 15 games on the road in all competitions, a run stretching back to a victory over Hamilton at New Douglas Park in February. Manager Paulo Sergio has warned in recent weeks that he does not want a "two-faced" team who do well at home and badly away. The opposition today appear to have a similar phobia about winning at home as Dunfermline side have not won at East End Park this season and have conceded eight goals in their last two games.

Jonsson knows Hearts have to avoid another slip-up on the road as they look to consolidate their position in the top four of the SPL. Hearts are four points behind second placed Motherwell and owner Vladimir Romanov was quick to remove previous manager Jim Jefferies after he secured third place in the table. No wonder Sergio is keen for a win today.

Jonsson said: "The St Johnstone game away (Hearts lost 2-0) was just a bad day for us. We spoke after the game and everyone was disappointed. There was no better game to bounce back than playing Celtic at home. We knew what we had to do and that was obviously to win the game and get three points. But since then we can't really talk about it. Okay, we won but now we have to look forward and going from Celtic to Dunfermline away. If we don't get a good result in this game then the Celtic game doesn't mean anything. You can't just go and beat Celtic and not perform against the teams we think we should be winning against."
