Brian Kerr gets back into football after a 6 months search
Terry Butcher did not let the last day of the transfer window close without another signing for his new club, Inverness Caledonian Thistle. He has signed former Motherwell midfielder Brian Kerr and brought him back to Scottish football. Kerr will be in the employ of the Highland club till the end of the season at least. Kerr impressed his two former 'Well managers, Butcher and Maurice Malpas, when they allowed him to train at Inverness last week. Kerr, who began his career at Newcastle, has not played a first-team game since Hibs Intertoto Cup defeat by Elfsborg in July last year. Kerr had been willing to travel to get a game and had trained with Hamilton, Brighton, Toronto and Falkirk since being released by Hibs in August, after just over a year at Easter Road, but had not been able to agree a deal.
Inverness boss Butcher said: "We've had Brian training with us and now I'm very pleased he's accepted a contract offer. When he worked with Maurice Malpas and I before, he was a very effective player and his experience can help our squad in our battle to retain SPL status." Kerr joins former Motherwell team-mate Richie Foran and Eric Odhiambo in signing for Butcher. The Scotland cap will help plug the gap left by Don Cowie, who completed his move to Watford yesterday. | Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba.net)
