C:WindowsTempphpFFD3.tmpAlex Neil insists he is not surprised by Hamilton Accies' eye-catching start to life back in the Premiership Last night the Accies beat Aberdeen 3-0 to extend their lead at the top to four points. Two goals from Tony Andreu and a late Mickael Antoine-Curier strike ensured Accies have achieved the best ever start to a top-flight season by a newly-promoted team.

Manager Neil said: "They don't really surprise me. I didn't really know how we would have fared in the Premiership but once I looked at the other teams and I knew what I had, I had confidence that we could do well. The teams that we're playing are really difficult, but fortunately for us we're in a rich vein of form, we're managing to score a lot of goals and we're not conceding. But that won't happen every week, so we're just enjoying it at the moment, and the guys are just enjoying their football. They're working really, really hard and I've got quality players in the group, and I think that's showed since the season started."

In contrast, Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes cut a frustrated figure after the game, saying: "I thought the lack of conviction in both boxes, from our point of view, has cost us the game tonight. I thought we had some real gilt-edged chances, and we knew that when we had opportunities to show our quality we had to go and take them. Our inability to defend the first goal was disappointing; it gives Hamilton the momentum in the game. I thought Hamilton thoroughly deserved to win the game because they took their chances and we didn't. Our inability to make more of the opportunities in their box and our inability to defend properly has cost us tonight, but no one would begrudge Accies the win, they thoroughly deserved that."
