Three minutes later she was on the score sheet again, this time converting a Leanne Ross ball from the middle of the box. On nine minutes it was 3-0. Katie McCabe tore down the left and played an inch perfect ball to Grant. Her shot was saved by Rachel Harrison in the Spartans nets, but she could only parry as far as Noelle Murray who made no mistake from 6 yards out.  Hayley Lauder made it 4-0 with a fine strike in off the post on 34 minutes and Captain Leanne Ross put City 5-0 up before the break converting a great City move with a terrific curling effort into the back of the net.

City made four changes at half time, but the alterations never affected their dominance, although they were unable to add to the scoreline. The only negative was a worrying injury late on to midfielder Sam Kerr who had to be stretchered off. With City just over a week away from their Champions League away clash with BIIK-Kazygurt, Head Coach Scott Booth must be concerned he could be without his Under 19 international.

He said: "
The first thing we need to do is confirm how serious the injury of Sam is and she will have an x-ray taken tonight. Once we know that we will have a better idea of the recuperation time. On the game, I was really happy with the performance. We spoke about starting the game at a good tempo and moving the ball on a good surface and we did that and scored some good early goals. We are a tight squad and need to work together, so it was pleasing to be able to make a number of changes today."

City are in action this Thursday against Hibernian as the top two go head to head. The game is a 7.30pm kick off at the Excelsior Stadium.
