Sarah Ewens responded twice for the home side, but it was not enough and maximum points went to the reigning Champions who continue their 100% run in all competitions so far.

City took the lead through Abbi Grant. Fiona Brown cut inside and hit a curling shot towards the far post. Rachel Harrison in the Spartans net did well to save, but could only parry to Abbi Grant who finished from close range.

On the half hour mark, City made it 2-0 when Suzanne Lappin crossed for Julie Nelson to head home and minutes later, central defensive partner Eilish McSorley got the third firing low past Harrison inside a crowded penalty box after a Leanne Ross shot had come back off the cross bar.

Shortly before half time, a poor clearance at the back for City, presented Sarah Ewens with an opportunity in the box and she took full advantage firing past Lee Alexander in the City nets to get her side back in the game.

Captain Leanne Ross scored with a free kick from outside the area to put the away side 4-1 up, but Sarah Ewens reduced the deficit once more scoring from a dead ball situation herself.

City pushed for one more in the last five minutes, but Suzanne Lappin’s shot which came back off the cross bar was as close as the visitors got.

Final score 4-2.

Commenting on the match, City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “It was pleasing to get three points and it showed that the break had an effect on us. We were a little bit less assured than we normally are and there was never really a flow to our game today. However, we managed to get goals at good times and that kind of knocked the stuffing out of Spartans and coupled with the Rangers and Hibernian result (2-2) we have strengthened our position at the top of the League.
