Falkirk Faltering In Final Fling

FalkirklogoSteven Pressley has told his players they'll have to be more ruthless if they are to stand a chance of winning their fight to stay in the SPL. Saturday's results didn't inflict any further damage on their hopes of escaping the drop with the gap between Falkirk and Kilmarnock staying at four points. However, Pressley acknowledged games are rapidly running out for his side.

He said: "In terms of attacking play and opportunities created we were terrific. I cannot recall another game this season in which we have created so many openings. We've scored, hit the bar, their goalkeeper has made some terrific saves and there were goalmouth scrambles. From that point of view we were excellent. Our desire was incredible but it was not to be. Everyone can see it was a great performance but we have to be a bit more ruthless at either end of the pitch, defending and attacking. Hibs were more ruthless with their opportunities and that was the difference."

Pressley recognised that Derek Riordan scoring an equaliser less than two minutes after Mark Stewart had opened the scoring for the Bairns was "a hammer blow". he is worried over his side's ability to hold onto a lead. He said: "One thing we cannot allow to happen is that we run out of games, we have to address that very quickly but I really feel for my players. You could see their desire to keep going when there is nothing left. Some were out on their feet but they were still going, matching runs, showing a desire to get forward. I don't think the result is a true reflection of our performance."
