Inverness may have beaten Dundee United 2-1 last night but that does not mean that assistant manager Russell Latapy is taking things for granted. Caley Thistle moved seven points clear of United and just one win from securing European qualification for the first time thanks to goals from Edward Ofere and Danny Williams. Robbie Muirhead had given Jackie McNamara's side a second minute lead. Despite the pleasing comeback win, Latapy is not counting any chickens until qualification is mathematically secured, which could come against Dundee on Saturday. He said: "There's never enough done when you've still got games remaining. We've put ourselves seven points ahead of Dundee United and we go into every game believing we can win it. We now go into Dundee on Saturday and we'll prepare the team that gives us the best possible chance to win the game. We're delighted to be this far up the table. It's a massive step for the club."
McNamara admitted it is going to be tough for United to close the the gap, even though one of their remaining games is another meeting with Inverness, who could open up fourth place as a European qualification spot by winning the Scottish Cup on 30 May against Falkirk. McNamara said: "Realistically, it's going to be very difficult to get third place now. It's not in our hands and we're relying on others in the last three games. We've got a similar game on Saturday now against an experienced side (St Johnstone) where we need to do a lot of things better. We were a bit naive in the way we played - there was a free-kick where we pushed everyone forward and it's then taken short. I don't think there was a lot in the game."
