Partick Thistle fans have always been accused of being a bit mad and Monday night may just provide further proof of their right to that accolade.
Gerry Britton is leaving Partick Thistle to take up practicing law and will be going with a send off to remember. Fans have been asked to adopt a Spanish theme to say goodbye to their assistant manager on Monday night for the home game against Morton. Britton has been christened 'The King of Spain' by the Firhill fans and this is believed to come from Thistle’s fans copying the adulation of Celtic fans calling Henrik Larsson 'The King of Kings'. Despite the expected sub-zero condition, Thistle fans have been encouraged to turn up to with sombreros and Spanish flags to pay tribute to their former player, manager and coach. To add to the surreal nature of the experience the team line ups and pre-game announcements will be in Spanish with the meal for Corporate Hospitality guests also having a Mediterranean feel. |
