Dundee United 4 Brechin 1

With Scottish Premiership taking a break, the spotlight was diverted to the Scottish Championship with even a live game (Morton v St Mirren) being broadcast live on BBC Alba.  That game ended in a 1-1 draw which helped Dundee United creep up on league leaders St Mirren by a couple of points thank to the result of their home game against Brechin.  The result was not so good for Brechin who remain at the bottom of the league with just three points.

Scott McDonald scored a double as 10-man United delivered their biggest Championship win of the season with a 4-1 win.  United needed an 80th-minute goal from McDonald to edge past the bottom club on their previous trip to Tannadice and drew at Glebe Park in November, but the Australian did not have to wait as long this time out as he scored the opener inside 60 seconds. Sam Stanton doubled United's lead after a seventh-minute corner and United were also quick off the mark in the second half - McDonald scoring from close range inside four minutes before James Keatings converted a penalty three minutes later. Paul McMullan's second yellow card, for simulation, changed the game in the 57th minute and Jordan Sinclair struck a consolation from the spot seven minutes later.
