Today allows the First Division spotlight to be trained on Dundee and St Johnstone as they fly the SFL flag today.

There is an eight point gap between today's First Division protagonists as Dundee prepare to welcome table-toppers St Johnstone. Dens Park manager Jocky Scott is worrying over juts who will; be fit in his squad before he can make his selection for the starting eleven. David Cowan, Bryan Deasley and Eddie Mearns have all struggled to train this week and will face late fitness tests, while Kyle Benedictus is out for a month with a torn calf muscle picked up against Queen of the South. Scott said: "We did think Kyle was going to be out for a lot longer than that so, while it is still a blow to him and the club, at least we are only talking in terms of weeks." Three points would be a welcome addition to the points already gathered by Dundee and would take them to equal fourth, alongside Ross County and Livingston and within five points of today's opponents.

St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes has managed to sign veteran goalkeeper John Hillcoat as a back-up goalkeeper for Alan Main. The Saints cannot call on Euan McLean at the moment due to his injured wrist while Greg Kelly was called back to Montrose. Hillcoat left East Stirlingshire four weeks ago, and has signed as an amateur until 31 December. McInnes said: "I was waiting on a couple of calls and am glad to have managed to get something done in time." McInnes' men will also be without the suspended Martin Hardie, while Derek Holmes and Stuart McCaffrey continue to receive treatment for their injuries, but both could be in contention for a place.
