Doctors Orders: Win Two Games And Call Me In The Top Six

stjohnstoneSt Johnstone are making moves on the top-six after delivering back-to-back wins. The Perth side followed up Saturday's late 2-1 victory at Falkirk with another win against a disappointing Aberdeen on Wednesday night. Cillian Sheridan grabbed the 21st-minute winner to take the SPL newcomers 14 points clear of Falkirk at the foot of the table. Striker Kenny Deuchar is hoping this results will start off a decent run to perhaps get into the top half of the table. Saints are now just three points behind sixth-placed Hearts and have two games in hand on the Edinburgh side, a top-six place is now a real possibility. But Deuchar insists Derek McInnes' men will abide by the old cliche of taking one game at time and see where it takes them.

The good doctor said: "We are delighted. That is what we were aiming for, two wins on the bounce. It's great and it looks positive for the rest of the season. It's a nice feeling. It's always nice coming into training having had a win and obviously, after two wins on the bounce now, the place will be buzzing today when we come back in. I think at some point in the season you have got to put a run together and hopefully we can go on now, have a bit of a run and get some more points on the board. The manager has said we have not reached the points total that he set out at the start of the season, one he thought would keep us up. We've just got to keep working hard."

St Johnstone are now the highest scorers in the table outside the Old Firm, with 42 goals from 27 games. They have also managed to score in their last 12 league games in a row. Deuchar has played his part after arriving from Hamilton last summer and is eager to continue the club's form at Celtic on Saturday. He said: "We just need to look at the next game, obviously it's a massive match, everybody wants to play at Parkhead. Then we have another important one against Falkirk next midweek, that is the really important one. The manager has said all season everybody will play their part and boys who have maybe not played as much have come in lately and done a great job for us. The last two wins have been great back to back."
