Djoum Down And Out

C:WindowsTempphp7961.tmpHearts Arnaud Djoum is facing seven to eight months out after snapping his Achilles tendon the weekend's 1-1 draw with Ross County. The Cameroon internationalist crumpled to the turf in the first half and had to be stretchered off. After being examined by the club’s medical staff the lengthy lay off was confirmed.  Manager Craig was naturally disappointed not to come away with three points, but insisted the injury to Djoum was an even bigger blow.

He’s a really important player for us and was just getting back to his best. Dropping two points is something that happens occasionally but this is probably more disappointing than that, the fact that we will be without him for the remainder of this season and the start of next season.  I’m disappointed. I’m doubly disappointed that Arnaud has snapped his Achilles tendon.  He’ll be out for seven or eight months unfortunately, He’s had a terrible time of it.  For some reason we’ve had two cruciates this year, two Achilles tendons…it’s been unusual but these things do happen.  He’s a really important player for us and was just getting back to his best. Dropping two points is something that happens occasionally but this is probably more disappointing than that, the fact that we will be without him for the remainder of this season and the start of next season."
