Divis Gets His Chance

Jakub DivisGoalkeeper Jakub Divis gets his chance to make his SPL debut for Hibs against St Johnstone after being made to wait his turn. The former Czech Republic under-21 internationalist joined the Easter Road side on loan in January from Slovakian side Tatran Presov. His only appearance for the Edinburgh side came in the friendly in March against Bohemians. However, Hibs manager Colin Calderwood has said Divis would start against Saints and he is keen to repay his manager's faith. He said: "When I get my chance I will be very happy. It will be a big day in my career, in my life. I will do everything to win."

Divis began his career with Slavia Prague and played in the UEFA Cup group stage against Ajax in December 2008. After limited opportunity at Slavia Prague, he moved to Slovakia, before switching to Edinburgh as one of Calderwood's six new signings in the winter transfer window. Divis has taken time to adjust to Scotland, but believes he is now prepared for the rigours of the SPL. He went on: "It's a new country for me, new language, new people. It was hard, but now I feel better. I have an apartment and everyone in the changing room is very nice to me and they try and help me. I think I'm ready to play for Hibs."

Saints' most recent SPL goal came in the 1-1 draw with Hibs in early March, but that was thanks to a Richie Towell own goal. The last time a Saints player found the net in the top flight was Stevie May's goal after 46 minutes of the 2-0 defeat of Hamilton on 1 February - making their barren run 11 games and more than 17 hours of football. Perhaps that record was behind Calderwood's decision to play Divis in place of Mark Brown. With Graham Stack - currently out with a shoulder injury - out of contract at the end of the season and Graeme Smith having already moved on, Divis is playing for his future. Asked if he would like to stay at Easter Road, Divis said: "Yes, of course. This situation is complicated. In the summer, we will see what will happen. Edinburgh is a very nice city. Edinburgh is like a small Prague, a very historic city with a big castle."
