Forfar and Berwick players can stay warm tonight with their being called off. Not everybody is happy with the situation.

We posted yesterday that the Third Division game between Forfar Athletic and Berwick Rangers, which was due to be played tonight, had been cancelled after a pitch inspection at 11.00am yesterday morning. It was no surprise that the game was called off as Station Park was still covered in snow and ice. Forfar boss Dick Campbell said: "We had a full squad available for this game so it is disappointing from that point of view. If we had won we would have ended the year just five points from top spot which is not too bad a place to be" For his part, Shielfield manager Jimmy Crease said: "It was not too much of a surprise when I got the call to say this game was called off. Our own pitch at Shielfield is still under ice and there will need to be a major thaw before our game with Livingston on Saturday can go ahead."

Hearts came to the Third Division side’s rescue with training facilities on Christmas Eve. Crease explained:  "Hearts gave us the use of their Riccarton training ground on Thursday morning before they arrived. It was good to get the players running about and stretching their legs. We are on the lookout for facilities for this week as well as the astroturf pitch we train on can not be used just now."
