C:WindowsTempphp9136.tmpChristian Dailly wants his former club to stick with Ally McCoist "through thick and thin". The former Rangers defender is well aware that the Rangers manager has come under increased pressure over his poor cup record following his team's Ramsdens Cup final defeat by Raith Rovers on Sunday. McCoist has a chance to change that when Rangers welcome Dundee United to Ibrox on Saturday for the William Hill Scottish Cup semi final. Dailly feels McCoist should be given full backing after guiding the club through the most difficult times in Ibrox history.

Dailly said: "It's going to hurt him, he is Rangers through and through, but he will do anything for the team to do well. There is absolutely no way that job was going to be plain sailing. He was brought under the wing of Walter Smith. Look at what he has done in his career and look what he has won. The way he has conducted in every press conference and every time he speaks, who else are you going to get that's going to do that? Who it means that much to?"

Dailly, who played with McCoist for Scotland and played under him during his spell as assistant manager, went on: "I just think that, through thick and thin, you go with Coisty all the way. He would be a huge loss if they decide not to have him as manager. Rangers are going to have to take some hits along the way, no doubt about it. One thing you don't want is that, as soon as they get beat in a game, you think that's your whole world caving in. They are trying to get up the leagues. That might take a number of years and a little bit of heartache along the way, but it might make the club really strong again in the long term. And it's how you deal with those little setbacks, that's the key to how they will end up."
