Daddy Day Care

C:WindowsTempphpD0B1.tmpFrazer Wright has had to make some adjustments to his routine  since joining Dumbarton. But on a Saturday, the thing he specialises in taking care of is the opposition. he defender had been 10 years away from part-time football before joining from St Johnstone in August. It's been an adjusting process for Wright who is now managed by his former team-mate at Stranraer, Stevie Aitken. However, playing a left back role, he helped Sons secure Saturday's 2-1 win over Livingston.

He said: “We've played better and lost, but it's always good to get the win and hopefully that will give us a bit of confidence. I think after the sending off we were hopeful that we could go on and get the winner. In the end we managed it. It was a bit of a scrappy goal but we'll take it and move on. That was my fifth game for Dumbarton so on a personal level it was good to get the first win. Hopefully I'll be able to help them pick up more points. It just shows what football is like sometimes – we didn't have that good a game but still managed to come away with the win. It's been a good move for me to come to Dumbarton – training has been brilliant and intense. I still haven't got a job outside football so I'm just filling my time going to the gym and looking after the kids. I'm just getting back into the swing of football again.”

Just under a year and a half ago, Frazer was part of the St Johnstone side which picked up the Scottish Cup after beating Dundee United 2-0. A move not only a division lower, but into part-time football, would seem unlikely to many, but he has no regrets. Frazer continued: “I'd only just signed another year's deal at St Johnstone so I wasn't really expecting to make another move. But I know the gaffer from our time at Stranraer together and when I spoke to him it was a no-brainer to come here. I've qualified as a personal trainer and I'm doing my coaching badges as well. You never know what might happen but it's entirely up to Stevie who he wants as part of his coaching staff. I need the qualifications first.”

Frazer is now preparing for a visit to a ground he knows well when Dumbarton play Hibs at Easter Road a week on Saturday. His last three visits to Leith, with St Johnstone, resulted in one win, one draw and one defeat. Despite Hibs' recent form, Frazer is confident of surprising a few people, just like Sons did on the opening day of the league season. And not having arrived at the club until after the 2-1 win in August, he's keen to be part of a winning side against the Edinburgh club.

He added: “One of the most appealing things about the Championship is the grounds you go to and the teams you play against. It will be a hard game against Hibs, but we can take heart from beating them earlier in the season. I wasn't at the club for that game, so it would be good to win this one. I've always wanted to be part of a winning team and this will be no different.”
