You have to take your chances when they come along and Ryan Esson is keen to keep his hands in the goalies gloves.

Ryan Esson is looking to extend a run in the first-team after taking over from Michael Fraser in the Inverness Caledonian Thistle goal. Esson got his second league game with Inverness when they drew 1-1 with Falkirk, after saving a penalty in last weekend's win at Hibs. Fraser lost his place after a poor performance in the 5-0 defeat by Rangers at Ibrox and Esson hopes to keep his place in the Highland side's starting line-up.

He said: "
I was not surprised to be playing against Hibs - you have always got to be ready as you never know when your chance is going to come up. It just so happens I have been given my chance and I am happy with how I've done so far. It was my second game last night and coming so quickly after the first one it was quite hard mentally. When I get the nod I just play the best I can and, hopefully, we will pick up results. If you are in a team that is picking up results it is a bit harder for a manager to change it. The thing about goalkeepers is that it is never the other one's fault that they are in the side - the manager picks the team. You have to get yourself in the team in the right way, not by being nasty or going behind anyone's back, it is all about being professional and going about your job from day to day. Michael Fraser and myself have both been doing that. I can't really comment on what Michael is feeling just now, although, obviously, he will be disappointed. I just have to worry about myself. I want to play every week and there is no better place to do it than in the SPL."
