| Celtic target in demand so they may have trouble matching other offers.

According to Marc-Antoine Fortunes' club, Celtic now face stiff competition to land the French striker. The Bhoys have confirmed an interest in the 27 year old who was on loan at new manager Tony Mowbray's West Brom last season. However, Nancy sporting director Nicolas Holveck said: " We have accepted three offers, all from English clubs. All are in excess of 4m euros and, with add ons, one is approaching the 5m euros mark".
Mowbray is hoping that as he has already worked with the player that it might influence his decision to move to Celtic if the Glasgow club can match Nancy's valuation. Hull have already confirmed they are talking to Nancy while Portsmouth, Wolves and Fulham have all shown an interest in the player who's club have been inundated with offers. Holveck added: "We are happy to allow the player to begin negotiations with these clubs and we expect the transfer to be formalised by Monday. It's still possible he could move to Celtic but they have yet to make an acceptable offer".
Fortune scored five goals in 18 appearances for West Brom. Peter Grant, who moved with Mowbray from West Brom, was impressed by the player's contribution, saying: "Marco is a quality player and we were very impressed by just how well he did for us last season. People say he didn't have a fantastic scoring record, but look at the goals from midfield after he came in. The goals the other boys scored because of the way he played was phenomenal. Marco had a great ethic about him in his training as well as his playing. He was a privilege to work with".
It looks as though Celtic will have to break open the biscuit tin and come in with a serious offer if they really want to land the striker. | Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba.net)
