Playing in a high scoring friendly has given Partrick Clegg the appetite for the real thing.

Hibs new man Partick Clegg, who followed manager John Hughes from Falkirk, says he was "buzzing" after pulling a Hibs shirt on for the first time against semi-professional Selkirk on Wednesday night. The former Ireland Under-21 internationalist said: "I thoroughly enjoyed the game and although we were playing against a semi-professional side it was about getting our fitness levels up. I feel as if I am buzzing because I am loving it at Hibs and it's great to be involved with John. There is a lot of talent at Easter Road and I want to prove that I can work hard and be an asset to the club."

Cregg's career started at Arsenal before moving north and playing more than 100 games for the Bairns in the three-year he spent under the guidance of Hughes - including last season's Scottish Cup final defeat to Rangers. He went on: "I want Hibs to be successful and I know that we definitely have a highly motivated squad. Any team that plays us will know that they have been in a game. I want my career to kick on and with the opportunity I have been given at Hibs I want to be professional and do my best."
