The highs and lows of football operate cheek by jowl as can be confirmed by Stephen Elliott and Gary Glen. Just two days after being involved in beating city rivals Hibs 5-1 to lift the Scottish Cup, Elliott has been told he will not be offered a new deal with Hearts. His departure along with Glen's is all part of the cost-cutting measures being put in place by the club. 
 
Elliott said: "I have had a great couple of years here and to go out in that manner was just amazing. I'm leaving with a Scottish Cup winner's medal so I would have to say my time here has been a success." Glenn added: "It was great to go out on such a high and I'd like to wish the lads the best of luck for next season. I'd like to thank the fans for their support during my time at the club and I'm now looking forward to taking the next step in my career."
