ross countyRoss County captain Richard Brittain is pleased to report that his knee injury is not as bad as first feared and he will be fit for pre-season. Brittain had to be replaced after he was stretchered off at Fir Park on Saturday after twisting his knee after sliding in for an attempted block during his side's 2-0 defeat by Motherwell. The medical team were worried that he had suffered cruciate ligament damage so sent him to hospital as a precaution.

However, Brittain wrote on his Twitter account: "Injury is not as bad as I initially thought thank god. I'll be fit and ready to go for pre season #staggies."

There is still some doubt over which team he will be playing for next season after he asked to be released from the pre-contract agreement he signed with St Johnstone in January. Saints have so far refused to tear up the two-year deal and the Perth club's chairman, Steven Brown, promised to honour the contract in the wake of his injury.
