Bottom Barr None

FalkirklogoFalkirk captain Darren Barr knows he and his team-mates need to use the fear factor to drive them on against Hamilton today. The SPL's bottom club must be getting sick of being called that as they head to New Douglas Park still six points behind Accies and in danger of losing sight of one of the teams they should class as relegation rivals. Any optimism and conviction that the drop was not for them that arrived with the installation of Steven Pressley as manager has been disapated when they lost to St Johnstone last week. Barr knows they things are looking bleak and they have to hang on as closely as possible to any team above them - and that is rather too many. Captain Barr said: "Especially with the split coming up, we don't want to be too far adrift. You don't want to look at the league but we need to realise that we have to get points on the board. We have good players here and we need to use anything we can to drive them on. We can't feel sorry for ourselves, we need to get those three points. We need to do whatever it takes to get that win. I don't think we have been playing badly, but I suppose I have said that many times at Falkirk. I feel as if we have taken another step, it has improved but we need to get three points. That's what the manager wants more than anything."

Barr knows what it is like struggling to get out of a difficult situation. With him signed up to move to Hearts he does not want to look back and see his old club back in the First Division. Barr has been there every step of the way as Falkirk progressed from a club battling for survival and stuck in the First Division because of their outdated ground, to an established top-flight outfit with a new stadium. The Scotland international said: "I've been there. I played a few times in the First Division and I saw what it was like at that time for the club. It's a great club and it would be a shame. It's all about us, the players on the park, and it's only us that can get ourselves out of it." Barr, who helped Falkirk survive with a late win over Inverness on the final day of last season, added: "After last year there are a few boys who have been through it. We didn't want to go through it this year but that's the way things panned out so we need to get on with it. I don't think it ever makes it easier. You don't want to be in that situation. But at the same time, because the boys have that experience, hopefully there will be boys who stand up to it and lead us on the park. We need everyone on the park to come together and lead us through it. We need to believe in ourselves."
