Both Sides Looking For A Win

Hibs and Inverness will both be looking for a win today for different reasons.
Souleymane Bamba has branded today's Hibs v Inverness Easter Road encounter as a "must-win" game for the Leith side. Hibs have struggled for wins in recent weeks, with last Saturday's goalless clash with St Mirren delivering just the second point gained from three games. Mixu Paatelainen's men are well aware they will be facing an Inverness team who are keen to get back on track after being hammered 5-0 by Rangers last Saturday. However, with only two points separating Dundee United in third from Hearts in eighth, Bamba admits sixth-placed Hibs are in need of a win as all SPL teams enter a period of three games in eight days. He said: "This is a must-win game, I think, because last week we drew the game against St Mirren away from home. We were very, very disappointed because we played three up front and we didn't pass the ball very well. But we are ready for Saturday and hopefully we are going to get the win."
Bamba has benefited from the absence through injury of Chris Hogg in the centre of the Hibs defence and has held down a regular place in the team in recent weeks. With Hogg now having recovered from the headache and vision problems he suffered following a bout of concussion he sustained back in August, Bamba knows he has to maintain his form if he is to retain his starting spot. The former Dunfermline player wants to do everything he can to prove to Paatelainen he deserves a place on merit. He added: "I got a chance earlier than I expected but I have worked very hard in training every day. I know we all need to fight hard for our places but I try to do my best in training and the manager makes the decision. The manager said that if I work hard every day and play well in the game in training then I would get my place in the team, and that's what I've tried to do. I've really enjoyed getting a run in the team. I'm here to play as many games as I can, so at the moment I'm very happy. I'm just looking for us to get more victories." | Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba.net)
